Financial support for the archival phase of this project was provided by the Scholars-in-Residence Program of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, through a collaborative residency at the Anthracite Heritage Museum, Scranton. Additional support was provided by the Department of Geography and the School of Computing, University of Portsmouth. Data entry assistance was provided by Andre Merel, Trem Stamp and Andy Bendall. The section of the program that generates the bibliography is partly based on code originally written by Trem Stamp.

A number of organisations made photographs and other images available and without their help the project could not have been completed in its present form.
