1876 Dec 6th one man killed, another seriously injured in explosion
1876 - - first reference to drift mine in Mine Inspector's Report
1878 - - air shaft sunk
1878 - - ventilation furnace installed, the Mine Inspector protested that money spent on furnaces in such shallow workings was money thrown away and it would shortly have to be replaced with a fan
1878 - - no breaker at this time, only horse-powered screens connected to chutes to deliver the coal into cars on the Jefferson Branch of the Erie Railroad
1881 - - first report of breaker in operation, no precise details available
1882 - - breaker has capacity of 400 tons per day
1882 - - new shaft sunk, 125 feet deep, located 2000 feet from breaker
1886 - - new wing added to breaker almost doubling its capacity
